Todd Stevens

Todd Stevens, Managing Director

Based in Salt Lake City, Utah, Todd Stevens is a Co-Founder and Managing Director of RenewableTech Ventures. Previously he was the Founder and Managing Director of EPIC Ventures and manager of the Zions Bank Venture Capital Department. Mr. Stevens raised and managed six venture funds, investing in over 100 companies and serving on over a dozen board of directors including Netcentives, i-Central, O'Currance, Vertical Technologies, MyFamily/The Generations Network, Cirque and ZARS Pharma. He also served as a Director of MorAmerica Capital Corporation for five years.

Prior to his 20-year venture career, Todd worked as a development and finance executive for a publicly traded independent power company and developed and financed renewable energy power projects with capacity of over 300 MW and financing lines of over $400 million. Todd also worked in real estate development, planning and control for a Chicago developer. Todd serves the on the Board of Trustees of Utah Technology Council (UTC), University of Utah Technology Commercialization Advisory Board, and University of Utah Lassonde Center Advisory Board.

Todd holds a Bachelor of Science degree, cum laude, in Accounting and Management from the University of Utah and a Master of Business Administration with honors, from the Harvard Graduate School of Business.

 

Dal Zemp

Dal Zemp, Managing Director

Dal Zemp, based in Cardston, Alberta, is a Co-Founder and Managing Director of RenewableTech Ventures. Previously, he founded and was the entrepreneurial force behind five successful ventures including Ashtech Industries (energy conservation building materials), Kodiak Mountain Stone (green construction materials), Whisper Creek Log Homes, Paradise Canyon Golf Resort and Land Corporation, and Recycle Wear USA (a consumer recycled clothing company). Dal is involved with various non-profit activities and also serves as Director of Competition for the International Summer Special Olympics Games and Assistant Executive Director of the Utah Special Olympics.

Dal received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Educational Psychology and a Master of Administration from Brigham Young University. He was later awarded a Trium Global Executive MBA from NYU Stern School of Business, London School of Economics and HEC Paris.

 

Robert Polthier

Robert Pothier, Venture Partner

Based in Rexburg, Idaho, Robert Pothier is a Venture Partner for RenewableTech Ventures, overseeing investment activity in Idaho, Montana, and Wyoming. Prior to joining RenewableTech, Bob was a Venture Partner for EPIC Ventures and previously a Partner in Wasatch Venture Fund III and Wasatch New Mexico Fund. He has served or currently serves on the board of directors of Rockford Corporation, CopperKey, Exagen Diagnostics, Lumidigm, Lytek, MyGeek and Yellowstone Hotel Systems.

Prior to his 10-year venture career, Bob was Chairman and CEO of Rockford Corporation, growing the company from 15 employees to over 670 employees internationally before the company went public in 2000. Bob was the Inc. Magazine Entrepreneur of the Year in the State of Arizona in 1990 and a founder and partner with Camelback Capital Corporation from 1978 to 1982. He is the Founder and Executive Director of the Eastern Idaho Entrepreneur Center and an Associate Professor at the BYU Idaho Business School.  

Bob was awarded a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance from Brigham Young University and attended the Executive Program at Stanford University.

 

Robert Wood

Robert Wood, Venture Partner

Robert Wood, based in Salt Lake City, Utah, is a Venture Partner of RenewableTech Ventures. He previously was a consultant to EPIC Ventures. Prior to his 21-year consulting career, Robert cofounded and served as CFO for 10 years and then as CEO for a publicly traded independent power company that developed and financed renewable energy power projects with capacity of over 300 MW and financing lines of over $400 million. Robert previously served as the CFO for a real estate development and consulting company, a tax specialist at a major CPA firm and a senior researcher for a university based economic and business research bureau. He currently serves as President for the Utah Affiliate of the American Civil Liberties Union, teaches as an Adjunct Professor in the Global Program at Sofia University, and has served on the Boards of the Rowland Hall St. Marks Schools and the Legal Aid Society.

Robert holds a Bachelor of Arts, magna cum laude, and a Master of Science degrees in Economics from the University of Utah, a Master of Business Administration degree and a Juris Doctor degree both also from the University of Utah, and a Ph.D. in Psychology from the Institute of Transpersonal Psychology and a Master of Arts in Transpersonal Psychology from Naropa University.

 

Rose Maizner

Rose Maizner, Associate

Based in Salt Lake City, Utah, Rose is an Associate with RenewableTech Ventures. In addition, Rose is the founder and CEO of CauseRock Consulting, an organization dedicated to helping nonprofits, early stage companies and small businesses to reach their fullest potential. She also serves on the board of Sustainable Startups and the advisory board of SXSW Eco, is a founder and organizing team member of Womenpreneurs and is the Metro Director of the Cleantech Open. Before entering the private sector, Rose spent a number of years in the nonprofit world, serving as both Associate Director and Interim Executive Director of an organization working with underserved communities in Salt Lake City. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from Wheaton College, after which she spent time conducting research out of the country as part of a Fulbright Scholarship.
